Robust management systems start with a robust infrastructure. The 8-Week Boot Camp is a high intensity blitz effort used to design this infrastructure. To incorporate lean and Six Sigma into a high performance management system, a simple set of information (and documents) should be created.
8-WEEK BOOT CAMP – Includes an A3 project plan created with your management team, to assess ONE process (department) of your choosing to create the following infrastructural items:
-A process map (flow diagram)
-A list of records required for the process
-An FMEA Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (optional)
-A control plan – include all critical control points including environmental, safety and quality
-A list of test equipment, calibration and measurement capabilities needed for the process
-Standard work for the leaders in the area
-A communication strategy
-A map of the workspace
-A 5S plan
-A list of metrics to be reported to indicate performance of the process
-A method of reporting the metrics within the department and upstream to management
-A collection of training materials – based on process map
-A training matrix
-A comprehensive audit plan – include the system, 5S, manufacturing best practices, records, etc
